Theater Experience
Bharti Sharma, M.A. (Hindi), Delhi University, National School of Drama Graduate (1987 Batch), Founder Member of Kshitij Theatre Group, has been doing theatre in Delhi since 1980. Learned Kathak from Bhaswati Misra and light vocal from Bhartiya Kala Kendra. She has specialized in Acting from National School of Drama in 1987and has worked with N.S.D. Rep. Co. for one year in 1987-88. She has been awarded with Senior Fellowship for her research project "Changing Styles and Methods of Theater Acting' by Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India in the year 2014. She has also been awarded as best actress by Natsamrat. She has worked with eminent theatre personalities like Ratan Thiyam, B.M. Shah, Mohan Maharishi, Berry John, Kirti Jain, Ranjeet Kapoor, Satya Dev Dubey, Girish Karnad, Ram Gopal Bajaj, John Martin and Robin Das.
She founded the Society “KSHITIJ” in 1987 with few N.S.D. Graduates and has been running
a theater repertory company since then which produces plays every year. Has produced
and directed many critically acclaimed plays like KARMABHUMI, ABHIGYAN SHAKUNTALAM, PAHAUNCH WALA AADMI, BURFEELI ANDHI AUR PISTAUL KA NISHANA, GOLI….EK
PAIDAYISHI GHULAM, NEPATHYA RAAG, MAIN HOON NA…..(IN TIME AND SPACE),
PURNAAVTAR, SABSE BADA DHARMA, PANDIT JAGANNATH, ELDER SON, KANDHE
PAR BAITHA THA SHAAP, BEGUM ZAINABADI , DILLI JO EK SHAHAR THA, AB NA BANEGI DEHRI, RAAG DROH, BADE BHAI SAHEB AUR GULLI DANDA, AADHE ADHURE, TYPIST AND MARNOPARANT, ANDHA YUG AND DO DOOKHON KA EK SUKH AUR MAIMOOD etc.
She has performed in the International Art Festivals of Tunisia, Algeria, Rom, Egypt,
Syria and Kuwait with Parvatiya Kala Kendra through I.C.C.R. in 1982. Has acted in more
than 50 plays. Designed and directed more than 20 plays for Kshitij. Performs in Bharat Rang Mahotsav (International Theatre Festival organized by National School of Drama) almost every year. Performed in Mohan Rakesh Samman Samaroh, Bhartendu Natya Samaroh, Odeon Theatre Festival, Calcutta, Kathmandu International Theatre Festival 2008, Kathmandu, Nepal, Woman Directors’ Theater Festival, Bhopal 2011, Woman Directors’ Theater Festival, Chandigarh, 2012, thrice in India International Art Festival, Delhi.
Has also dramatized five novels ‘BIYABAN MEIN UGTEY KINSHUK’, written by Dr. Sudha Shrivastava, ‘GOLI’, written by Acharya Chatursen, ‘PURNAVATAAR’, written by Pramath Nath Bishi, ‘BEGUM ZAINABADI’, written by Sharad Pagare, AB NA BANEGI DEHRI written by Padma Sachdeva and two stories by A. Pushkin ‘BLIZZARD’ and ‘THE SHOT’ for Kshitij.
T.V. & Film Experience
She has Co-Anchored 39 episodes of TANA BANA serial with Mr. Shashi Kumar, produced by PTI (T.V.) for Doordarshan’s DD I Channel, telecast in 1991-92. She has been running a video production house of her own and has produced and written the screen play and dialogues of 2 and ½ hours film ‘KAALA HEERA’ and acted the lead female character of the film made for ZEE T.V., telecast on 27th January, 2000 at 8.00 p.m. under ZEE T.V.’s Saturday Special time slot. The Screen play of the film Kaala Heera was sent by ZEE T.V. as an entry to Asian T.V. Awards in the category of best Screen Play.
Has directed & co-produced 13 episodes’ comedy serial ‘GADBAD GHOTALA’ produced by
Bharti Productions for Doordarshan’s DD I Channel Telecast in 1995.
She was one of the Jury Members for the screening of “Serial & Soap-Opera, TV Show” categories for Doordarshan Annual Awards, 2005.
Directed & co-produced four documentaries made by Bharti Productions for Department of Culture, Govt. of India. Some of the documentaries got telecast on DD I.
Directed short films & educational films for Deepaliya Plan Project (a Social Organization).
Acted the lead roles in ‘CHAUVA’ & ‘SILVER WEDDING’ telefilms made by C.P.C. Doordarshan, telecast in 1989 on DD I.
Acted the lead role in the second episode of “BANVAR’ serial made by T.V. Eighteen for Sony T.V. telecast in 1997.
Assisted in direction to Mr. N. Krishnaswami for his serial ‘CINEMA CINEMA’ made for Doordarshan, telecast in 1989 on DD I.
Acted in the telefilm ‘VO GHAR’ directed by Girish Karnad for Doordarshan, telecast in1987 on DD I.
